Biography

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, CON, is the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a distinguished economist, administrator, and public servant with extensive experience in governance, economic management, and development policy. He previously served as Governor of Kebbi State from 2015 to 2023 and Senator representing Kebbi Central Senatorial District from 2009 to 2015. In his current role, he leads the coordination of Nigeria's national development planning, budgetary policy, development cooperation, and economic reform agenda, while overseeing the implementation of the National Development Plan and Agenda 2050. Senator Bagudu plays a pivotal role in mobilising development finance, fostering strategic partnerships with multilateral institutions, development partners, and private investors, and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda through initiatives aimed at promoting macroeconomic stability, infrastructure development, agricultural transformation, human capital development, and sustainable economic growth.
