Astra Bonini

Biography

Astra Bonini is Chief of the Integrated Policy Analysis Branch at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Her team provides policy analysis to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a focus on synergies and interlinked approaches to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She approaches the holistic mission of sustainable development from the entry points of science and technology, transport, energy and agriculture. Specific initiatives under her leadership include the Global Sustainable Development Report, the Technology Facilitation Mechanism, the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport and SDG reviews at the High-level Political Forum. Astra earned her PhD in sociology from the Johns Hopkins University and Master of International Affairs from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
