Benedikt Messner

Biography

Benedikt Messner is Senior Vice President New Energies at Uniper Global Commodities SE, based in Düsseldorf, Germany. In his role he leads global energy initiatives centered around molecules; ie hydrogen derivatives, alternative fuels, supply chains and offtake agreements. His interests extend into Clean Tech Investment and Energy Transition Ventures, where he is member of advisory councils. Until July 2016 he was General Manager at Enerjisa, Istanbul, Turkey, a JV of E.ON with the Sabanci group, member of the Executive Risk Committee and the Innovation Board. Prior to joining Enerjisa in April 2013 Benedikt Messner was the Director of Origination at E.ON Global Commodities, Düsseldorf. Before that he held various managerial roles, heading European power trading desks at E.ON, worked at Acton Energy, Frankfurt, and Enron Europe, London. He started his career in 1996 with the liberalization of European electricity markets at Verbund, Vienna. Benedikt Messner holds a master’s degree from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
