Biography
Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen studied medicine and science journalism. His specialty is communicating medical topics with humor and lasting impact — on television, as an author, and as a keynote speaker. For him, “planetary health” means giving top priority to protecting the natural foundations of life and creating a future fit for coming generations. In 2020, he founded the Healthy Earth – Healthy People Foundation. His latest book, "The Penguin Who Learned to Fly", also reached #1 on the Spiegel bestseller list. For German public broadcaster ARD, he hosts "Wissen vor 8 – Erde" and various documentaries. Hirschhausen is an honorary member of the Charité medical faculty, a member of the Sustainability Advisory Board of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Club of Rome, and an honorary professor in Marburg.
