Glenn Schmidt

Biography

Glenn Schmidt is Vice President of Global Sustainability at the BMW Group. In this role, he oversees the company’s holistic approach to sustainability across all business divisions and regions. He drives the integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability into the corporate strategy and defines goals and initiatives to meet the Paris Agreement targets. Previously, Glenn Schmidt headed the BMW Group’s Government and External Affairs department for over five years. In this capacity, he was responsible for the company’s global political advocacy, managing operations from Munich as well as through international offices in various capital cities. Since joining the BMW Group in 2004, Glenn Schmidt has held various international leadership positions, including roles in international media relations and business and financial communications. He was also part of "project i," the think tank that gave rise to the BMW i brand and the company’s electrification strategy. A native of Canada, he studied in Vancouver and earned an MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in the USA.
