Harry Knoll

Biography

Harry Knoll is a German architect, trained carpenter and founder of TURBOO GmbH, a Berlin-based deep-tech company developing TURBOO — a high-performance engineered bamboo technology for construction. His career began 33 years ago in a carpentry workshop in Hamburg, followed by years as a traveling carpenter with the hand-crafter guild “Axt und Kelle”. This experience shaped his understanding of materials, manufacturing and structural systems. Driven by the ambition to create affordable and sustainable housing, Harry worked across construction sites, industrial production and architecture offices in Europe and the United States. Before founding TURBOO, he led residential, hospital and modular timber construction projects in Switzerland and New York City. Responding to rapid urbanization, climate change and timber scarcity, he turned his focus to bamboo, the fastest growing plant on earth. After years of research, pilot manufacturing and testing in Brazil, he developed TURBOO, positioned as “The New Green Steel for Construction.” Today he is establishing the first TURBOO production facility in Brazil, creating the foundation for a global scalable licensing and technology platform.
