Ian Chitumba Mwiinga

Biography

I am the National Coordinator for the Zambia EITI Secretariat which is hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development in Zambia. The Secretariat provides administrative and implementation support to the Zambia EITI Council (ZEC). The ZEC is composed of representatives from the Government, Mining sector and Civil Society. The ZEC is chaired by the Secretary to Treasury - Ministry of Finance. I am also a member of the Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) under the Mining cluster which is hosted by the Government of Zambia at the Cabinet Office aimed at promoting dialogue between the government and private sector. I have previously served as a Board member of the EITI International Board representing Anglophone and Lusophone EITI implementing countries (Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zambia) until June this year (2023). I co-chaired the implementation committee on the EITI International board. The implementation Committee (IC) provides oversight on how the EITI Standard is being implemented and presents recommendations for strategic policy issues related to the EITI standard.
