Biography

Jibril Mohamed is the Director of Investment and Project Implementation at the Somali Development and Reconstruction Bank (SDRB), where he plays a leading role in advancing Somalia’s development finance agenda through innovative investment programs, private sector development initiatives, financial inclusion strategies, and enhanced access to finance. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing investment and financing frameworks that support economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development across key sectors of the Somali economy. With more than 15 years of professional experience spanning both public and private financial institutions, Mr. Mohamed is widely recognized for his expertise in development finance, Islamic finance, banking regulation, financial sector development, compliance, and economic policy. Prior to joining SDRB, he served as Director of Licensing and Supervision at the Central Bank of Somalia, where he led major regulatory and supervisory reforms, strengthened oversight of banks and financial institutions, and contributed significantly to the implementation of Somalia’s Financial Sector Development Roadmap and AML/CFT reform agenda. He also played an important role in supporting Somalia’s financial sector reforms under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.His contributions have positioned him as one of Somalia’s leading professionals in the fields of finance, banking, and development policy. Mr. Mohamed holds a Master of Finance and a Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and a Senior Associate of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF), reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and continuous development in the financial services industry.
