Lindsay Iversen

Biography

Lindsay Iversen is the deputy director of the Climate Realism Initiative (CRI) at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). CRI aims to chart a pragmatic course for U.S. energy and climate policy that is both realistic about the severity of climate impacts and realist in assessing that countries will pursue policies to advance their own interests. She also authors the Climate Realism newsletter. Previously, Lindsay was the Deputy Director at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC), a center addressing the global energy challenge of providing affordable energy while avoiding the worst impacts of climate change and air pollution. Prior to joining EPIC, she was the associate director, climate and resources at CFR, where she helped lead CFR's work on climate change, food security, and water security, and earlier served as special assistant to the president, research for CFR's then-president, Richard Haass. She received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
