Liz Ricketts

Biography

For the past 15 years, Liz Ricketts has worked to bring global awareness to the waste crisis caused by the fast fashion business model. As the co-founder and executive director of Ghana-based not-for-profit The Or Foundation, Liz has played a critical role in advocating for meaningful international policy change and brand accountability. Alongside community members, The Or Foundation team of more than 100 people has been at the forefront of identifying and implementing innovative solutions to address textile waste and its impact on local communities in Accra — home to Kantamanto Market, the world’s largest secondhand clothing market and leading hub for reuse, repair, upcycling, and remanufacturing. Liz and her team are calling for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies to be globally accountable, urging brands to move critical resources to communities like Kantamanto.
