Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh

Biography

Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh is the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and an accomplished governance, security, and development expert. He holds a BA from Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone, an MSc in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Institute of Political Sciences from the University of Bordeaux, France. Dr. Jalloh began his career with the United Nations in 2000, serving in several peace and security roles, including the United Nations Mission in Kosovo and as Senior Advisor at the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Mali. He was a key contributor to the UN Strategy on the Sahel and worked closely with ECOWAS, the African Union’s Nouakchott Process, the G5 Sahel, and international actors on governance, mediation, and security issues. He also served as West Africa Analyst for the International Crisis Group, where he produced influential policy reports on Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau, and engaged with regional and international institutions including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the European Union. In Sierra Leone, Dr. Jalloh collaborated with the Campaign for Good Governance to implement a major EU-funded civil society capacity building programme, supporting democratic governance and public policy analysis. As Vice President, Dr. Jalloh has been at the forefront of Sierra Leone’s governance and development reforms. He has led major initiatives in human capital development, including championing maternal and infant health. The office of the Vice President provides strategic oversight for several national institutions critical to investment, transparency, security, and social development, including the National Investment Board, the Sierra Leone Millennium Compact Development Unit, the Sierra Leone Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, the Scaling Up Nutrition Secretariat, and the National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre. Dr. Jalloh brings together policy expertise and extensive field experience to drive Sierra Leone’s governance reforms, human capital development agenda, and strategic international partnerships.
