Shallet Chepkemboi Kibet is one of Kenya's most compelling voices at the intersection of civic education, youth empowerment, and governance accountability. As Executive Director and co-founder of The Big Talk, she has built one of Kenya's most dynamic civic platforms, creating space for ordinary citizens to engage with the policy decisions that shape their lives. As host of Gen Z Manifesto on K24 TV, Kenya's leading television network, she brings young Kenyans into the heart of the country's most pressing socio-political conversations, week after week. Shallet's work is driven by a simple but radical conviction: that the people most affected by decisions must have a voice in making them. She built The Big Talk because the rooms where policy is made did not reflect the communities it was made for. That refusal to wait for permission defines everything she does. A recognised civil society leader from East Africa, Shallet participates in the Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2026 as a UNDP Representative, bringing the lived realities of grassroots governance to one of the world's most important sustainability forums.
