Anders is currently heading the Strategic Funds unit at UNCDF, which includes coordination and management of multiple platforms of funding and financing, including both on-balance sheet and off-balance sheet facilities, and both investment funds and TA facilities. Anders is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Before the current position Anders was the Director for the Least Developed Countries Investment Platform (LDCIP) at UNCDF in New York, where Anders helped build UNCDF’s investment operations. During his time with LDCIP he laid the foundation for today’s loan and guarantee operations at UNCDF. Anders also led the selection and negotiation of the partnership with third party fund managers and other UN agencies, who benefited from UNCDFs unique capital mandate and investment operations. Before Anders Berlin joined UNCDF Anders was the Head of Loans and Guarantees at the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for 5 years. Under Anders leadership the operations grew substantially and the unit managed to close a number of innovative and high-profile transactions such as a Volume guarantee for implants and Balance Sheet guarantee to the Asian Development Bank. Anders has been the Country Manager for Sida in Kosovo where he led the development cooperation office and served as the deputy Head of Mission. Before that Anders was the deputy Country Manager for Sida in Tanzania for three years. Anders has also worked for the World Bank in Washington DC as well as for the European Commission in Brussels.
