Biography
Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, former Federal Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer was born in Völkingen/Saar. After leaving school, she studied political science and law in Saarbrücken and Trier. As an advisor to the then Chairman of the CDU Saar, Federal Environment Minister Dr Klaus Töpfer, she learnt the political trade behind the scenes. In December 2000, she became the first woman in Germany to hold the office of Minister of the Interior. After other ministries, she was elected Saarland's first female Minister President in 2011. In 2018, she moved to the federal level and became Secretary General and Chairwoman of the CDU Germany and Federal Minister of Defence from 2019-December 2021. Since retiring from active politics, she has been involved as an active citizen and contributes her experience at various levels.
