Biography

Anselm Sprandel is State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. He holds this position since September 2024. Mr. Sprandel grew up in Hamburg and Würzburg. He studied economics in Heidelberg and Hamburg. In 1992, he joined public service in Hamburg, where he held various leading positions in the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour, Social, Family Affairs and Integration. From 2019 to 2024, he was head of Department for Energy and Climate. From 2015 to 2019, he was head of the Central Coordination Unit for Refugees.
