Antón Leis García (Santiago de Compostela, 1981). He holds a Law Degree with Extraordinary Prize from the Carlos III University of Madrid, a Master of Laws (LL.MM) from Harvard Law School and a double Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the London School of Economics and the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences Po). He speaks English, French and Portuguese. He has developed his professional career in the field of international organisations, specialising in international cooperation and multilateral affairs. Prior to his appointment as Director of AECID, he held various positions at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), including in the Secretariat for Global Relations and the Office of the Secretary-General, where he held the post of Counsellor to the Secretary-General, with the rank of Head of Division. Between 2018 and 2020, he was Deputy Counsellor in the General Secretariat for International Affairs, EU, G20 and Global Security of the Office of the Prime Minister of Spain, in charge of coordinating Spain's participation in the G20 and other multilateral affairs. He was also Advisor to the Secretary of State for International Cooperation. Previously, he has held aid positions at the African Development Bank as a senior specialist in governance and private sector development from Tunisia and Côte d'Ivoire, as well as at the World Bank as a legal advisor, working on Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean regions from the Washington headquarters.
