Biography
Dr. Ariel Macaspac Hernandez is a senior researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and lecturer (Privatdozent) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. With dual doctorates and a habilitation in political science, economics and social sciences, his interdisciplinary expertise spans sustainability transitions, climate justice, knowledge cooperation, and negotiation studies. At GIGA, he leads the Transfer for Transformation initiative, fostering global knowledge exchange. His recent work explores the ethics of care in human flourishing and sustainability, supported by a fellowship at THE NEW INSTITUTE. Widely published and an active policy advisor, he bridges scholarship and transformative practice across global contexts.
