Diego Fernando Maldonado Castellanos

Biography

Diego currently leads the office responsible for producing data on culture affairs and behavioral sciences for urban challenges in Bogotá Goverment, applying it to public policy design through citizen-centered design methodologies, as well as data use and engagement strategies grounded in experience design and citizen participation. He has led diverse agendas in areas such as urban development; cultural policy, heritage preservation, and the creative economy; open government, integrity, anti-corruption; peacebuilding, transitional justice; data-driven and behavoural science decision-making, and public and social initiatives with a territorial approach. He has held key positions including National Director of the Colombian Network of "Cómo Vamos" Cities at Corona Foundation, Deputy Ombudsman for Citizen Participation and Special Programs at Bogotá’s Oversight Office (Veeduría Distrital), Chief of the Peace and Development Group at Colombia’s National Planning Department (DNP), and Chjief of the Citizen Participation Observatory at Bogotá’s Institute for Participation and Community Action (IDPAC). In academia, he currently teaches Public Policy Evaluation and has lectured on collective action theory, political institutions, and armed conflict and peacebuilding.
