Hege Haaland (b. 1974) is Director General for the Department for Sustainable Development in the Norwegian Ministry of foreign Affairs (MFA). Her previous positions in the MFA include Director for the Section for Partnership and Development Policy Analysis (2021-23), Delegate to the OECD DAC in Paris (2018-21), Deputy Director for the Section for Multilateral Development Banks (2014-18), and UNGA coordinator (2011-14). Her over 20 years as a Norwegian diplomat also include postings to Warsaw and San Francisco, as well as work on security policy, European affairs, and the Western Balkans Region. Before joining the MFA, Hege worked for the Norwegian Trade Council in Warsaw, Poland, and the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs (NUPI). She holds a Master of Political Science from the University of Oslo.
