John Fairhurst

Biography

At the Global Fund John leads work to engage the private sector resources, philanthropy and innovative finance, in the elimination of HIV, Malaria and TB. This includes building catalytic impact initiatives in forward leaning areas, accelerating program integration and deeper impact for women and children, scaling the next generation of product technologies to reach the most vulnerable faster, transforming digital health (including AI), climate and health, and the surveillance ecosystem. John was an Executive Director at UBS where he led a team developing new products and innovative financing instruments and the COO at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). He has worked in both the private and non-profit sectors, including in finance and pharmaceuticals sectors supporting M&A and public listings. He established and managed the portfolio of one of the largest private foundations, the Children's Investment Fund (CIFF). He was a Regional Manager for Oxfam in East and Central Africa, Country Director in Afghanistan and worked in Northern Sri Lanka and a board member of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a major mines clearance organization and Nobel Prize co-laureate.
