John Nyanje

Biography

John Nyanje is a Kenyan lawyer with keen interests in wider areas of international law. He holds a dual LLM in international law and international dispute settlement from the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of Geneva. He has recently completed a PhD from the Leibniz University in Hannover. Nyanje has worked in law firms in Geneva and Nairobi, where he has advised clients across the globe and worked on cases in international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, Public international law and Sports arbitration in institutions such as ICC, LCIA, SCAI, SIAC, PCA, ICSID, CAS, and also ad-hoc tribunals. He has also advised clients on cross-border investment across the globe. Nyanje teaches and researches international investment law, public international law, Climate change law, trade law and Regional integration law. He continues to litigate in major disputes before international, regional courts and tribunals, including recently as counsel for the African Union before the International Court of Justice on the advisory opinion on Obligations of States with regard to climate change. Nyanje is fluent in English and Swahili and has a working knowledge of French.
