Biography
ROBERTA CASALI
Roberta Casali is the Vice President for Finance and Risk Management at the Asian
Development Bank (ADB). She is responsible for the overall management of the Controller’s
Department, Treasury Department, and Office of Risk Management.
Roberta is committed to the international development and green transition agenda. She
has led strategic initiatives on balance sheet optimization, sustainable finance, and
innovation. She is actively engaged in the G20 initiatives to strengthen coordination and
cooperation among Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), Credit Rating Agencies, and
key stakeholders.
Prior to joining the ADB, Roberta had more than 30 years of executive experience in the Italian
central bank, the corporate and investment banking sector, and served as Independent
Chair and Non-Executive Director in private and listed companies. From 1997 to 2003 she
was a member of the Working Group on Retail Payment Systems at the Bank for International
Settlements in Basle.
She holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from La Sapienza University
of Rome, an MBA from the University of Rochester (USA), and a Certificate in Corporate
Governance as International Director from INSEAD (France).
