Sarushen Pillay

Biography

Sarushen Pillay is the Executive Vice President for Business Building, Strategy and Technology at Sasol. In his function, he is accountable for defining long-term strategic pathways to transition and transform Sasol for a low-carbon world, while maintaining shareholder and societal value, and delivering on the company’s research, innovation, technology, and business-building agenda. Prior to this role, he was Senior Vice President of strategy and Sustainability for the Energy Business, leading work on an integrated strategy to transform and decarbonise Sasol’s energy value chain. His leadership was pivotal in developing Sasol’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction roadmaps. His over 20-year career is anchored in a strong technical background, including research, innovation, technical design, commissioning, operations and intellectual property management and technology commercialisation, coupled with a variety of leadership roles that involved navigating dynamic and challenging environments. Sarushen is a versatile executive who serves as a board member of three of Sasol’s subsidiaries to advance the organisation's current and long-term ambitions.
