Serah Makka

Biography

Serah Makka is an advocate for equitable development and the Executive Director of Africa Advocacy at The ONE Campaign, where she leads health financing, climate justice, and economic reform efforts across the African continent. With over 20 years of global experience in development finance, public policy, and strategic advocacy, she has helped mobilize billions in resources and policy changes that have directly advanced healthcare access, financial inclusion, and youth civic engagement across Africa. Under her leadership, ONE has advanced groundbreaking campaigns on health systems financing, including advocating with African finance ministers and the G7 for sustainable models to close the global health financing gap. Serah’s previous roles include Nigeria Country Director at ONE, where she secured $153 million in public health investments and spearheaded Nigeria's largest youth civic campaign. A Desmond Tutu Fellow and Harvard Kennedy School alumna, Serah lectures at the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance, and is a respected voice on financial innovation, governance, and inclusive development.
