Secretary General Veronica Nduva is an accomplished governance public sector professional with 25 years career experience spanning the Kenya Government, the East African Community, the United States Government and the Non-profit Sector. As the Secretary General of the East Africa Community, she is the CEO of a Regional Economic Community of eight Partner States globally recognized for its progressive regional economic policies that aim to deepen integration, promote sustainable growth and strengthen economies. She is the seventh and first ever female holder of this position over the last 25 years since the inception of the EAC. Prior to her current role, she was the Principal Secretary (PS) for the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management in the Senior ranks of the Executive of the Government of Kenya, 2023-2024. She also headed the Government of Kenya’s State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action as Principal Secretary, 2022- 2023. Secretary General Veronica honed her skills in collaborations, engagements with policy makers and partnerships management in her role as Special Advisor and Senior Political Specialist at the United States Embassy Department of State in Nairobi, from 2014 – 2022. Here, she successfully managed the bilateral relationship between the United States of America and Kenya through engagement with key policy makers. She has received multiple awards and recognitions over the years, the latest being the decoration by the President of the Republic of Kenya of Order of the Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS)- 1st class, awarded in December 2023 for distinguished and exemplary public service. Nduva hold a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Administration, both from the University of Nairobi.
