Zukunft Formen – Forming Futures
Am Sonntag, den 28. Juni 2026, lädt die Hamburg Sustainability Week gemeinsam mit der Hamburg Sustainability Conference zu einem besonderen Abend in die Hauptkirche St. Katharinen ein.
Unter dem Titel „Zukunft Formen – Forming Futures“ kommen lokale Initiativen, internationale Gäste sowie Vertreter:innen aus Politik, Wissenschaft und Zivilgesellschaft zusammen, um sich über Perspektiven nachhaltiger Entwicklung auszutauschen und neue Formen der Zusammenarbeit zu erkunden. Zwischen Sonne und Erde, Wort und Musik, Chancen und Konflikten sowie internationalen und lokalen Perspektiven bewegt sich der gemeinsame Abend.
Eröffnet wird die Veranstaltung von Prof. Dr. Michael Otto, Mit-Initiator der Hamburg Sustainability Conference, nachdem die Hauptpastorin von St. Katharinen, Dr. Ulrike Murmann, die Gäste begrüßt.
Künstlerisch prägen den Abend ebenfalls mehrere Perspektiven: Neben der nigerianischen Poetry-Künstlerin Alhanislam, die mit ihrer Wortkunst international für Nachhaltigkeit spricht, lässt auch Klimaaktivistin Luisa Neubauer gemeinsam mit dem Ensemble Resonanz in ihrer “Rede in Es-Dur" Wort und Musik für Wandel, Transformation und Aufbruch sprechen. Visuell wird der Abend sowie die gesamte Woche in St. Katharinen von HELIOS geprägt, dem großformatigen, leuchtenden Abbild der Sonne des britischen Künstlers Luke Jerram.
Von künstlerischen Beiträgen gerahmt steht das Gespräch zwischen Achim Steiner (Chair der Hamburg Sustainability Conference), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Sabine Kunst (Vorstandsvorsitzende der Joachim Herz Stiftung), Prof Dr. Stefan C. Aykut (Soziologe an der Universität Hamburg) und Fatoumata Fofana, einer Vertreterin des Youth Ambassador Programms der Conference im Fokus. Moderiert wird der Abend von Katie Gallus unter der Fragestellung, wie verschiedene Perspektiven und Netzwerke Zukunft gestalten und formen können.
Abschließend laden Week und Conference zum offenen Ausklang bei Getränk und Fingerfood.
Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher und englischer Sprache statt.

Zukunft Formen – Forming Futures
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Hamburg Sustainability Week, in collaboration with the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, invites you to a special evening at St. Katharinen Main Church.
Under the title “Zukunft Formen – Forming Futures,” local initiatives, international guests, and representatives from politics, academia, and civil society will come together to exchange perspectives on sustainable development and explore new forms of collaboration.
The evening will navigate the space between sun and earth, word and music, opportunities and conflicts, as well as international and local perspectives.
The event will be opened by Prof. Dr. Michael Otto, co-initiator of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, following a welcome address by the senior pastor of St. Katharinen, Dr. Ulrike Murmann.
Artistically, the evening is also shaped by multiple perspectives: In addition to Nigerian poet Alhanislam, who uses her spoken word art to advocate for sustainability on an international stage, climate activist Luisa Neubauer, together with the Ensemble Resonanz, will use words and music to speak of change, transformation, and a new beginning in her “Rede in Es-Dur.” Visually, the evening—as well as the entire week at St. Katharinen—will be marked by HELIOS, the large-scale, luminous representation of the sun by British artist Luke Jerram.
Framed by artistic performances, the discussion will focus on a conversation between Achim Steiner (Chair of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Sabine Kunst (Chair of the Board of the Joachim Herz Foundation), Prof. Dr. Stefan C. Aykut (sociologist at the University of Hamburg), and Fatoumata Fofana, a representative of the Conference’s Youth Ambassador Program. The evening will be moderated by Katie Gallus, exploring how different perspectives and networks can shape and form the future.
Finally, Week and the Conference invite you to an informal gathering with drinks and finger food.
